Isfahan remains calm after explosions: City returns to normalcy

Al Jazeera reported that Isfahan, a central city in Iran, is currently described as “completely calm and secure” by the country’s Mehr News Agency. This assessment follows recent explosions near the city’s airport. Despite these events, people are seen resuming their normal activities, as shown in live television broadcasts capturing the early morning traffic in Isfahan. However, earlier reports noted sounds heard over the city and the downing of several miniature UAVs.

In response to these incidents, Iran has lifted flight restrictions across the country, allowing regular flights to resume at all airports. This decision came after temporary cancellations of flights in Shiraz, Isfahan, and Tehran following the reported strikes. Reports from Tasnim, a Revolutionary Guard-affiliated news service, mentioned the easing of flying restrictions by the nation’s civil aviatio”Isfahan Remains Calm After Explosions: City Returns to Normalcy”n authority in most airports. Additionally, Mehrabad, Tehran’s primary domestic airport, is reported to be operating regularly again.

The activation of Iran’s air defense systems in various locations was reported after multiple explosions near the Isfahan airport and an army base, according to state media. These events are part of escalating tensions that include missile launches and attacks in other regions, such as Syria and Iraq.

The missile launches come after Iran’s attack on targets near Israel on Saturday  last week, which saw the country unleash a volley of more than 300 unmanned drones and missiles, according to Israeli military authorities.

Syrian media reports also indicated attacks targeting Syrian military radar sites in southern Syrian governorates. This situation led to residents in Mosul and Erbil in Iraq hearing sounds of fighter jets during the early morning hours.

The region is experiencing heightened tensions and military activities, with multiple countries and entities involved in various incidents and responses.
