A man from Singapore was surprised by the offers at a flagship Bata store in Prague and shared his experience in a video, exploring the five-storey building in the Czech capital. Content creator Thomas Kopankiewicz starts the video saying he was strolling through Prague when he stumbled upon the familiar store.

“In Singapore, we only know Bata as a BuyAndThrowAway brand. There is a huge five-storey flagship store over here in Prague. Let’s go check this out, man. I have my doubts,” he quips in the video.

Inside the store, he provides a 360-degree view of the footwear on display, selecting items that appear unusual for the brand. He holds up a pair of fur boots and says with a chuckle, “Even Yeezy’s can’t come up with these,” referring to Kanye West’s brand.

“Balenciaga, who?”
Kopankiewicz is further surprised to find leather jackets, clutch bags, and knee-high snake-skin boots. He shows sneakers with snake skin panels and a Bata logo, exclaiming, “Balenciaga, who?”

In the video’s caption, he writes, “ITS MUCH BATA HERE. Also, TIL BATA is a luxury brand? WHUT, it can’t just be me who totally misinterpreted their branding right?!”

The video has gone viral, garnering 3.7 million views. One user commented, “Bata is a unique brand. No matter from which country you are, people will assume it’s a local brand.”

Many were taken aback when Kopankiewicz mentioned that Bata was a “BuyAndThrowAway” brand. Indian users comment that they associate the brand with iconic, affordable, durable, and high-quality footwear. One user said, “What do you mean. In India, Bata is worshipped. My shoes are older than my cat.”

Some were shocked when they came to know that the brand Bata was not of Indian origin, but it is from the Czech Republic.
