In response to the tragic deaths of Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi and Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in a helicopter crash the Indian Government declared a mourning on May 21 throughout India to pay respect to the departed dignitaries.
“On the day of mourning, the national flag will be flown at half mast throughout India on all buildings where the national flag is flown regularly and there will be no official entertainment on the day,” ANI quoted Ministry of Home Affairs.
Earlier in the day Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei declared a five-day mourning period of national mourning in Iran as reported by Press TV.
Khamenei conveyed this announcement in a message on Monday, expressing deep sorrow upon receiving the “bitter news” of the death of his “companions with great sorrow.”
