External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles in Madrid to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the defense sector. The two leaders also discussed pressing regional and global issues during their “productive exchange of views.”

In Madrid, Jaishankar interacted with the vibrant Indian community, shedding light on India’s global positioning and rapid progress.
Speaking at the event, he emphasized India’s motto, Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and its application on the global stage. “India’s positioning today is very important. Many countries see good ties with India as beneficial,” Jaishankar stated.
Highlighting India’s economic growth, he said, “India’s economy has risen to the fifth position and is expected to reach third in a few years. The world recognizes this new Bharat and its contribution to global conversations.”
On X, Jaishankar shared, “Pleased to interact with the vibrant Indian community in Spain yesterday. Spoke to them about the changes underway in India, India’s increasing role on the global stage, and how Indians worldwide are part of the Viksit Bharat journey.”
Meeting with Spanish Foreign Minister
Jaishankar also held extensive talks with Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares, focusing on a range of topics including:
