Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was hospitalized for the second time in Manaus on Sunday to receive treatment for a bout of erysipelas, a type of skin infection, as reported by Brazil’s online newspaper Metropoles.

Bolsonaro took to social media platform X to inform the public, stating, “I’m at Santa Julia Hospital in Manaus. Erysipelas…still not expected to be discharged. A hug to everyone.”

The incident disrupted Bolsonaro’s schedule in Manaus, where he was meeting with supporters at various meetings and demonstrations. The hospitalization prompted him to suspend his activities in the region.

Deputy Captain Alberto Neto (PL-CE), according to Metropoles, shared a photo on Instagram alongside Bolsonaro in the hospital on Sunday afternoon. “Ready to watch the Palmeiras game in a little while,” he captioned the picture.

Bolsonaro is expected to stay in the hospital for continued medication and observation to ensure a better recovery of his clinical condition. Deputy Captain Alberto mentioned that Bolsonaro’s return to Brasilia is anticipated for Monday.
