Air India suspends Tel Aviv flights amid Middle East tensions

As tensions escalate in the Middle East, Air India has announced the suspension of flights to and from Tel Aviv until April 30, prioritizing the safety of passengers and crew members. The decision comes amidst recent developments in the region, including reported missile strikes and heightened military activities.

In a statement shared on their social media platform, Air India expressed, “Our flights to and from tel Aviv will remain suspended until 30th April 2024, in view of the emerging situation in the Middle East.” The airline assured passengers with confirmed bookings during this period that they would receive a one-time waiver on rescheduling and cancellation charges.

“We are continuously monitoring the situation and are extending support to our passengers,” Air India stated, emphasizing their commitment to customer safety. They also provided contact information for passengers seeking further assistance or information regarding their travel plans.

The decision follows recent incidents in the region, including reported missile strikes launched by Israel against Tehran. While details remain fluid, the situation has led to increased vigilance among airlines and authorities.

Earlier, Iran’s offensive on targets around Israel led to heightened security measures by Indian airlines. Both Air India and Vistara announced the avoidance of Iranian airspace, opting for longer flight paths for their Europe and US operations to ensure the safety of passengers and crew members.

Air India reiterated, “We are closely monitoring the developing situation in the Middle East,” indicating ongoing adjustments to flight operations based on safety priorities. The airline’s proactive measures align with global efforts to navigate complex geopolitical dynamics while prioritizing passenger safety and operational integrity.
