National Film Award :Manoj Bajpayee Receives for ‘Gulmohar’

Veteran actor Manoj Bajpayee has won his fourth National Film Award, earning a Special Mention for his performance in the film Gulmohar. The award was presented by President Droupadi Murmu at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony, held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

In an interview following the ceremony, Bajpayee expressed his gratitude for the recognition and thanked the film’s director, Rahul V Chittella, and his co-stars for their support.

“It is a huge thing when such a small film makes its presence felt at the National Film Awards… I feel honoured. Also, I can’t take all the credit myself. I thank my director, who offered me this film, and all the people who worked with me, all the co-actors who supported my work. I also express gratitude to my audience for showering love on me,” Bajpayee said.

About ‘Gulmohar’

Gulmohar revolves around the multi-generational Batra family as they prepare to move out of their 34-year-old family home. The film explores themes of family bonds, secrets, and insecurities, as the family comes to terms with their changing lives. Apart from Bajpayee, the film features acclaimed actors Sharmila Tagore, Simran, and Suraj Sharma in pivotal roles.

Directed by Rahul V Chittella, Gulmohar garnered three National Awards this year, cementing its success.

Previous National Awards

This marks Bajpayee’s fourth National Film Award. He has previously won the Best Actor Award for Bhonsle (2021), the Best Supporting Actor Award for Satya (1999), and a Special Jury Award for Pinjar (2004).
