The music world in Albania, Kosovo and the diaspora was in a state of shock after the sudden death of one of Albania's most renowned pop stars: Shpat Kasapi. He died on November 26, 2025, at the age of 40, after reportedly suffering a sudden cardiac arrest while traveling to Bologna, Italy. His passing brings to a close a career spanning two decades that shaped the face of modern Albanian pop.
Kasapi was among the most recognizable voices in Albanian music, gaining popularity in the early 2000s. With his melodic pop sound and charisma on stage, he was a staple in festivals, TV performances and award shows throughout the region.
Born on May 1, 1985, Kasapi was 40 years old at the time of his demise.
He attended Liria Primary School in Tetovo and later joined the Yahya Kemal Turkish College in Skopje. He completed his university education at FON University, also in Skopje.
Kasapi grew up in a musically inclined household but faced personal tragedy early. At 13, he lost his father, which later he would describe as deeply shaping his emotional journey and connection to music.
Kasapi was married to Selvija Jao and they had a son. According to reports, the couple separated a few months prior to his death.
He started performing very early, and his first important prize came at the festival Bletezat 98. Throughout the years, he became a well-known name in Albanian pop, taking part in the biggest festivals such as Festivali i Kenges, in which he once competed for a Eurovision entry. His blend of modern pop with regional influences has made him a crowd favourite for over twenty years.
Though the exact figures are unknown, reports indicate that his net worth would range between low to mid six figures in euros due to touring, performances and streaming revenue would fall roughly between Rs. 90 lakh and Rs. 4.5 crore.
Industry estimates showed his monthly 2025 earnings to vary significantly while some months reached above $1,500, others were between $100–$200. In turn, his projected annual revenue for 2025 was about $49.8K with a possible variation.
According to Macedonian media, Kasapi died from a sudden cardiac arrest. He was reportedly not suffering from any medical condition, making his demise quite shocking.
