Rukmini Vasanth was born on 10 December 1996 in Bengaluru, Karnataka, to a family that spoke Kannada. She belongs to a reputable family with deep roots in service as well as the arts.

Her father was the late Colonel Vasanth Venugopal, a highly decorated officer of the Indian Army. He was the first decorated officer from Karnataka to be awarded the Ashoka Chakra, India’s highest peacetime military honor for valor.
