A shocking incident happened during the shoot of Pati Patni Aur Woh 2 in Prayagraj. A crew member was attacked by residents while the film, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan, was being shot on Thornhill Road.
The police have arrested the main accused, but the attack has raised concerns about safety and law and order for film shoots in Uttar Pradesh.
The assault took place on August 27 when some locals had a clash with the film crew. Zoheb Solapurwala, the production head of BR Chopra Films, was hurt in the attack. After a complaint from line producer Saurabh Tiwari, the Civil Lines Police Station filed an FIR on August 28.
Abhijeet Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (City), confirmed that the main accused, Meraj Ali, was arrested shortly after the incident.

The attack happened while Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan were on set. Security was insufficient to keep the crew safe despite their presence. This calls into question the safety precautions used in the state during movie productions.
The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) criticized the Uttar Pradesh government on social media. They said,
“If the Uttar Pradesh Government cannot provide safety and security to those engaged in film production, then what is the purpose of promoting Noida Film City as a shooting hub? When the government fails to ensure protection, how can producers, Filmmakers, artists, and technicians risk their lives by shooting in Uttar Pradesh?”
They added,
“Such attacks are not only disgraceful but also raise serious concerns about the safety of the Indian film industry workforce. This incident directly questions the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh and plants fear in the hearts of filmmakers and artists who wish to shoot in the state. If such big Bollywood superstars are not safe on set, how can ordinary crew members and workers feel secure while shooting?”
This incident shows a bigger problem of safety for film shoots outside Mumbai. Bollywood often chooses Uttar Pradesh for shooting because of tax benefits and government support. But attacks like this may make filmmakers think twice before filming in the state.

Pati Patni Aur Woh 2 is a sequel to the 2019 romantic-comedy that starred Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar, and Ananya Panday. The new movie features Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan in the lead roles and is produced by BR Chopra Films.
