Even after a formal ban in Pakistan, the Indian film Dhurandhar continues to spark attention across the border. This time, the buzz grew after a viral video showed Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chief Bilawal Bhutto making a grand entry at a public gathering while FA9LA, a popular song from the banned film, played in the background.

The clip spread quickly on social media and triggered fresh debate over the film’s growing influence in Pakistan’s digital space.

Bilawal Bhutto Viral Video

The video shows Bilawal Bhutto being welcomed on stage as the song FA9LA plays loudly at the venue. Guests cheer while he takes his seat. The moment surprised many as Dhurandhar remains officially banned in Pakistan.

The song FA9LA, performed by Bahraini artist Nawaf Fahed, also known as Flipperachi, has emerged as one of the most talked-about tracks from the film. It is linked to the character Rehman Dakait, portrayed by Akshaye Khanna, who plays a feared underworld figure in the movie.

PPP’s Legal Challenge Against Dhurandhar

The viral moment drew attention because Bilawal Bhutto’s own party has taken legal action against Dhurandhar. The PPP filed a petition in a Karachi court, objecting to the use of images of the late Benazir Bhutto in the film.

The petition seeks the registration of an FIR against the cast and crew. The party argues that the portrayal is objectionable and has raised concerns over the film’s narrative.

Why is Dhurandhar Banned in Pakistan?

Pakistan, along with a few Gulf nations, has banned Dhurandhar over claims of “negative propaganda.” Authorities objected to the film’s storyline, which touches on sensitive events such as the 1999 Kandahar hijacking, the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, and the Lyari gang wars.

Despite these restrictions, the ban has failed to stop public interest. The film continues to circulate widely through online platforms and pirated copies.

FA9LA Song’s Popularity Across Pakistan

While screenings remain blocked, FA9LA has become a party favourite in Pakistan. DJs play it at weddings and gatherings, and clips featuring the song regularly trend online. Reports suggest that the song’s catchy beat and bold visuals helped it cross borders quickly, even as authorities attempted to curb the film’s reach.

Piracy and Digital Spread of the Film

The ban has not slowed down piracy. Within weeks of release, Dhurandhar reportedly became one of the most pirated films in Pakistan, with millions of illegal downloads. Attempts to restrict access online have struggled as the film continues to circulate through social media platforms, messaging apps, and unofficial websites.

Cast and Storyline of Dhurandhar

Dhurandhar features a strong ensemble cast led by Ranveer Singh, who plays Hamza, an Indian spy. The story follows his mission to infiltrate Karachi’s Lyari area and dismantle terror networks.

Other prominent actors include Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Rakesh Bedi. The film blends espionage, crime, and political drama, which has added to its controversial status.

What do the Viral Moment Signals?

The Bilawal Bhutto video highlights a clear contrast between official bans and public consumption. While the film remains restricted on paper, its music and themes continue to travel freely online.

The episode shows how digital culture often bypasses censorship and keeps controversial content alive, even in tightly controlled environments.
