Huda Kattan antisemitism controversy sparks call to drop Huda Beauty from Sephora and TikTok over hate speech.
Huda Kattan, founder of Huda Beauty, is facing intense backlash after using her massive social media platform to promote dangerous antisemitic conspiracy theories where the influencer, who has over 50 million followers, recently shared a video on TikTok accusing Israel of causing major global events like World Wars and 9/11. TikTok removed the post for violating its community guidelines. However, pressure is mounting on beauty retailer Sephora to drop her billion-dollar brand over what Jewish groups describe as the spread of “centuries-old hate.”
In her now-deleted TikTok video, Kattan questioned if Israel was behind every world war. She falsely claimed Israel orchestrated World War I, World War II, 9/11, and the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7 and these claims are not only false but dangerous, as they echo age-old antisemitic tropes that have led to real-world violence against Jewish communities.
Kattan also shared the widely debunked claim that Israel harvests Palestinian organs — a modern variation of the notorious “blood libel” myth and this baseless accusation dates back centuries and has historically been used to incite hatred against Jews.
TikTok confirmed it removed Kattan’s video, citing violations of its misinformation policy. “We do not allow misinformation that may cause significant harm,” TikTok stated. But critics argue this step is not enough.

Jewish organizations like the Anti-Defamation League and American Jewish Committee condemned Kattan’s actions. ADL’s CEO Jonathan Greenblatt called her statements “vile myths” and “dangerous.” AJC reposted the deleted clip and emphasized that such conspiracies go beyond political discourse — they are pure hate speech.
Amid the growing uproar, a Change.org petition is urging Sephora to permanently remove Huda Beauty products from its stores. The petition has already received tens of thousands of signatures. JLens, a Jewish nonprofit, said Sephora must choose between supporting a brand whose founder spreads hate or standing against antisemitism.
Criticism isn’t new for Kattan. After the October 7 Hamas attack, she rejected an Israeli user’s boycott threat by saying, “I don’t want blood money.” That sparked earlier calls for action, but the recent TikTok post has reignited the controversy.
Huda Kattan is one of the most powerful names in the beauty industry, she founded Huda Beauty, a company valued at over $1.2 billion, and commands an enormous global following. Forbes named her one of America’s Richest Self-Made Women and a Most Powerful Woman in Business. However, critics now say her influence is being used to normalize antisemitic narratives in mainstream beauty spaces.
Antisemitism is hostility, prejudice, or discrimination against Jewish people and it has existed for centuries and manifests in religious, racial, and political forms, Jews have often been scapegoated for societal problems, making them frequent targets of baseless conspiracy theories, including “blood libel” — the false claim that Jews use non-Jewish blood for rituals.
The claim that Israel harvests Palestinian organs revives the “blood libel,” one of the most harmful lies in Jewish history and originating in medieval Europe, this accusation led to massacres and expulsions of Jewish communities. That a modern beauty influencer would repeat such myths to millions highlights the urgent need for platforms and retailers to take stronger action.
