Taylor Swift’s highly anticipated album The Life of a Showgirl was released on Spotify on the night of October 2, with fans scrambling to listen to it. The 12-track album with a track by Sabrina Carpenter made its way into one of the most discussed music releases in a year. But the thrill was brief for most, with thousands of users experiencing technical problems with Spotify as soon as the release went live. Several reported that the app froze or wouldn’t even open up to play the songs.
Fans Experience Streaming Problems
More than 1,000 individuals reported having issues with Spotify upon fans’ frantic streaming of Swift’s album, according to DownDetector. Most complaints came from people using the Spotify app on iOS and Android, with about 65 percent saying it crashed as soon as they tried to stream. Another 22 percent of users said the Spotify website wasn’t working either. Spotify’s X (formerly Twitter) handle had announced the album release earlier, which added to the rush of users on the platform.
