In the latest episode of Bigg Boss 19, contestant Tanya Mittal broke down on national television after fellow contestant Kunickaa Sadanand dragged her mother into a nomination task and the incident shocked housemates and triggered painful memories from Tanya’s past. She later revealed details of childhood abuse, near-forced marriage, and her struggle for independence and the confrontation left the house divided, but most contestants stood in support of Tanya.
The Nomination Task Turns Ugly
The task paired Tanya Mittal with actor Gaurav Khanna. They had to resist pressing the buzzer for 19 minutes while other contestants distracted them. During the challenge, Kunickaa Sadanand crossed a line by remarking that Tanya’s mother had “not taught her anything.” The statement visibly shook Tanya, yet she completed the task and soon after, emotions overwhelmed her, and she broke down.

Housemates Confront Kunickaa
Almost all contestants confronted Kunickaa over her comment. Actor Pranit More asked why she made such a remark, to which she coldly replied, “Meri marzi.” Singer-composer Amaal Mallik said it reflected a question of upbringing. More insisted the comment was wrong. Actor Zeishan Quadri added that Kunickaa should not drag parents into fights. He reminded her that provocation over family would only escalate conflicts. Amaal Mallik consoled Tanya, saying she must remain strong. Gaurav Khanna reminded Kunickaa that she had once objected when someone spoke about her son, calling her “double-faced.”
Tanya Mittal Opens Up About Childhood Abuse
The comment hit Tanya hard because of her painful past. She revealed she had faced domestic abuse during her childhood while her father beat her, and her mother often saved her and she described a life of restrictions, where she needed permission to wear a saree or even step outside. At 19, her family almost forced her into marriage. She confessed she had even wanted to die during those years. Tanya credited her mother as her strongest pillar, the one who gave her courage and protection in her darkest times and her confession left housemates and viewers shaken.
