Rajinikanth’s most-awaited action entertainer Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, has already raised several eyebrows at the USA box office even before its official release.
With just three days left before August 14, 2025, the film grossed over $ 1 million in advance. The North American premiere day itself brought in close to $970,000 from much more than 37,000 tickets sold, surpassing Rajinikanth’s previous record for Jailer (2023) of $948,000 made on its first day of its release.

Including sales from Canada, Coolie has raked in a whopping $1.86 million on its premiere day in North America. People are expecting even these figures to increase drastically when the crowd-mania-highest advance booking period comes around, assuring a healthy weekend opening due to heavy competition from Bollywood-Tollywood action spectacle War 2, featuring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR.
Star Value and an Amazing Cast Drive the Buzz
The excitement surrounding Coolie is greater than Rajinikanth’s persona, and it includes the mighty ensemble cast and creative team. Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is known for the sensational hits like Kaithi, Major and Vikram, is headlining the project with his mass-action cruise storytelling.

Nagarjuna features in a ruggedly rugged avatar and the key cast includes Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan and Upendra. The cherry on top is a hotly anticipated cameo from Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, expected to widen the film’s appeal across India.
In the United States, Coolie’s premiere day gross stands at $1.6 million, while War 2 takes a bow to advance sales of nearly four times’ worth of those sales.
Rajinikanth’s New Benchmarks
Coolie happens to be what accounts for about 76% of the whole lifetime North American box office collection of Rajinikanth’s Petta, which earned $ 2.55 million. If prevailing conditions hold, Coolie is set to surpass Petta within the opening weekend itself, making it one of the top 10 highest in Tamil films in North America.
Box Office Battles and Market Positions
Though War 2 has raked in some advanced revenues ($200,000 in North America, $100,000 on the first day), it trails significantly behind Coolie in audience buzz and ticket sales, despite having almost 400 more shows. This points to Coolie’s well-grounded position and Rajinikanth’s continuing box-office pull.
