Washington DC [US], May 22: Netflix has announced that The Breakfast Club will begin streaming live on the platform every weekday starting June 1, marking Netflix’s first-ever daily live program.
Hosted by Charlamagne Tha God, DJ Envy and Jess Hilarious, the popular morning show will continue airing on Power 105.1/WWPR-FM and through Premiere Networks while also expanding its reach through Netflix.
According to reports, the Netflix version will offer viewers additional content during commercial breaks, including behind-the-scenes moments, extended interviews, bonus segments and exclusive material for a more uninterrupted viewing experience.
Speaking about the development, Charlamagne Tha God said live programming continues to connect strongly with audiences and described the expansion as an opportunity to build a global real-time community.
Lauren Smith, Netflix’s Vice President of Content Licensing and Programming Strategy, called the move an important milestone for the streaming platform as it continues to expand its live programming slate.
Netflix has already explored live content through NFL games, comedy specials and live podcasts, while also increasing its focus on video podcasts through partnerships with companies like iHeartMedia, Spotify and Barstool Sports.
