Hollywood actress Michelle Monaghan is all set to join John Cena and Eric André in Netflix’s upcoming comedy Little Brother. The casting news, confirmed by industry sources earlier this week, has already stirred excitement among fans of offbeat comedies and family dramas alike.
The film is directed by Matt Spicer, known for his sharp storytelling in Ingrid Goes West. This time, Spicer steps into the family comedy space with Little Brother, a story about a buttoned-up real estate agent whose carefully planned life goes off the rails when his estranged younger brother makes an unexpected return.
John Cena, who has shifted from action roles to comedy hits in recent years, plays the older brother trying to hold his world together. Eric André, famous for his unpredictable humor and bold performances, steps in as the younger sibling, promising plenty of laughs and a healthy dose of brotherly chaos.
Joining them is Michelle Monaghan known for her roles in Mission: Impossible III, Source Code, and The White Lotus. Though her role hasn’t been officially detailed yet, she’s expected to play Cena’s character’s wife. Given her track record of bringing both warmth and strength to her characters, Monaghan’s presence will likely add heart and depth to the story.
A Cast That Brings the Comedy Home
Rounding out the cast are Chris Meloni, Ego Nwodim, Sherry Cola, Caleb Hearon, and Ben Ahlers, a lively mix of comedic and dramatic talent that’s sure to complement the lead trio.
The script comes from writing duo Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel, known for their work on The Grinder and Yes Man. Behind the scenes, producers David Bernad and Ruben Fleischer are backing the project under their Middle Child Pictures banner. Filming wrapped up recently in New Jersey, and the film is now in post-production.
Little Brother joins Netflix’s growing list of original comedies that explore family bonds, unexpected reunions, and the messy, funny moments in between.
As for Monaghan, this is just one of several high-profile projects on her calendar. She’s set to return in The Family Plan 2, star alongside Robert De Niro in the Netflix thriller The Whisper Man and appear in the second season of Apple TV+’s Bad Monkey.
With a strong creative team, a standout cast, and a story packed with humor and heart, Little Brother is shaping up to be a comedy worth keeping an eye on. Netflix is expected to reveal its release date and drop the trailer in the coming months.
