Actor, lawyer, and social activist Kunickaa Sadanand has embraced multiple roles throughout her career. Last weekend, she added another chapter by stepping into the Bigg Boss 19 house. While she admits that the move has come late, Kunickaa feels the timing is finally right. Within just the first week, her strong presence, blending firmness, warmth, and a no-nonsense attitude, has already sparked conversations both inside and outside the house.
In a candid conversation with India Today, the actor revealed why she chose this moment to join the reality show. “I was not ready for it earlier. I also don’t know about other reality shows because I definitely cannot do a 'Khatron Ke Khiladi'. But yeah, it’s a new phase in my life and I am very excited about it. I also want to be back in the entertainment industry while I keep fighting for causes in my advocacy,” she said.
Known for speaking her mind, Kunickaa assured viewers that she has no plans to wear a mask for the cameras. She said that discipline is non-negotiable for her in the shared living space. She made it clear that she will call out disrespect and prevent contestants from insulting each other.
While the house often tests contestants' patience, Kunickaa is unfazed by the trolling and age-shaming. Laughing off such remarks, she shared, "I confidently tell everyone my age; I don't live in a delusion. Age-shame has no meaning, and everyone wants to grow old. People should grow old and become like me."

Although not a regular viewer of the show, she admitted to admiring former housemates like Rubina Dilaik, Nikki Tamboli, and Shehnaaz Gill. She fondly recalled watching Anup Jalota, a close friend, during his stint, as well as Rahul Roy’s season. Interestingly, she avoided seeking advice from ex-contestants. “You have to see to what extent you won’t be manipulated,” she said.
Kunickaa has shared screen space with Salman Khan in films such as Hum Saath Saath Hain, Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya, Chandramukhi, and Shaadi Karke Phas Gaya Yaar. But when asked if this association might give her an edge, she dismissed the thought.
“Salman Khan being biased in his job? Salman, whom I call Khan Saab, and I have done four films together, but the last time I saw him was way back in 2006. We haven’t really been in touch, although I did participate in a few TV debates around him, but he never questioned me,” she said in the India Today interview.

For Kunickaa, Bigg Boss 19 is more than just a reality show; it’s an opportunity to reintroduce herself to a wider audience. She said that as one steps into the media, opportunities start to present themselves one after another. While she admits to having a diverse fan base thanks to social media, she added that Bigg Boss helps one connect with "150 to 100 times" more people.
