A Look Into the Infamous Phase of Ye’s Life

The documentary, directed by Nicolas Ballesteros, is a six-year-long project that kicked off when Ballesteros was only 18 years of age. The teaser description describes the experience as Ballesteros being “thrust into the eye of the storm that is Ye, a man building empires in music, fashion, and faith.”

It provides insights into his decision to start his church, hosting Sunday service, his disdain for medicine, and the shame that stopped him from crying. It takes people behind the scenes of what they saw unfold on social media to allow them a chance to draw their conclusions.

Moreover, the documentary as a whole is described as Ye coming to accept his situation, dealing with Bipolar disorder, failing marriage, lost business deals and public backlash. The experience is described as a period where his “life unfolds alongside a billion-dollar brand and a persona as polarizing as it is powerful”

In Whose Name? Will be released in theatres on September 19th 2025, with no OTT release announced as of now. This move from the Graduation artist is in line with Taylor Swift’s Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film.

This upcoming release from Ye is looking to “reveals a side of Ye the world was never meant to see.” In Whose Name? Promises a rare look into the artist’s life that was only seen before in the 2022 Netflix documentary Jeen-Yuhs, directed by his friend Coodie.
