The 55th edition of the Kerala State Film Awards turned out to be a successful night for Malayalam cinema as Mammootty's Bramayugam and Manjummel Boys emerged as the biggest winners.
The Awards were announced in Thrissur by Kerala Minister for Fisheries, Culture and Youth Affairs, Saji Cherian both films have stood out for their artistic depth and the telling of stories by Malayalam filmmakers in these films, making it a strong year for the industry.
Mammootty is one of India's most respected actors, earned the Best Actor title for his gripping performance in Bramayugam is a film that probed into psychological and moral complexities with unique visual language. The award for the Best Film went to Manjummel Boys, directed by Chidambaram S. Poduval also claimed the Best Director title.
Best Actress is Shamla Hamza for her brilliant portrayal in Feminichi Fathima, Best Debut Director is Fasil Muhammed for the same film, which was also selected as the Best Second Film of the year.

The other major victories were seen in categories like Best Character Artist (Male) by Soubin Shahir for Manjummel Boys and Sidharth Bharathan for Bramayugam, while Lijomol Jose won Best Character Artist (Female) for Nadanna Sambhavam.
Tovino Thomas and Asif Ali won the Special Jury Award for acting for ARM and Kishkindha Kaandam, respectively.
The awards also celebrated excellence behind the scenes both Bougainvillea and Bramayugam garnered several honors in technical categories in such fields as Best Makeup, Best Costume, Best Screenplay and Best Music Direction.

Manjummel Boys dominated the sound and production categories, clinching Best Sound Design, Best Production Design and Best Cinematography by Shyju Khalid.
Payal Kapadia was awarded the Special Jury Award for Women/Transgender Representation for All We Imagine As Light, underlining Kerala's commitment to inclusive storytelling.
The Kerala State Film Awards, currently running in its 55th year, celebrate creativity and cinematic brilliance in Malayalam cinema of the 128 entries, only 26 films got into the final selection. A fair and diverse recognition of talent across genres and generations was ensured by the jury chaired by veteran actor Prakash Raj.
This year's awards once again reassure Kerala's status as a powerhouse of Indian cinema, balancing box-office success with artistic depth and cultural integrity.
