A recent episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 (KBC) has sparked a massive debate on social media after 10-year-old contestant Ishit Bhatt from Gandhinagar, Gujarat, was accused of behaving rudely towards host Amitabh Bachchan. The young participant’s overconfidence during the show divided opinions, with some calling him “disrespectful” and others defending him as just an excited child.

What Happened on the KBC Episode

Ishit Bhatt caught attention right from the beginning of his segment when he interrupted Amitabh Bachchan, saying, “Mere ko rules pata hai isliye aap mereko abhi rules samjhane mat baithna (I know the rules, so don’t start explaining the rules to me right now).”

Throughout the episode, he continued to assert himself, urging the host, “Arre option daalo (Come on, give me some options),” and later saying, “Sir ek kya uss mein chaar lock lagado, lekin lock karo (Sir, not just one, put four locks on it, but do lock it).”

When asked a question about the Ramayana, he demanded options again and ultimately gave an incorrect answer, leaving the show without any prize money.

Reacting to his behaviour, Amitabh Bachchan gently remarked, “Kabhi kabhi bachhe overconfidence mein galti kar dete hai (Sometimes children make mistakes due to overconfidence).”

Social Media Divided Over Ishit Bhatt’s Behaviour

The episode quickly went viral, sparking heated discussions online. Many users criticised Bhatt for being “arrogant” and “ill-mannered.”

One post read, “It’s okay if your child knows, but if he doesn’t have manners or if he doesn’t know how to talk in front of elders, he can never be successful.” Another user commented, “Perfect ending. Arrogance got schooled. Maybe now the parents will learn, raising a brat isn’t parenting, it’s public nuisance training.”

Others, however, felt the backlash was too harsh for a child. Some netizens suggested the show might have scripted parts of his behaviour, arguing that online criticism had crossed the line.

Celebrities React and Call for Empathy

Playback singer Chinmayi Sripada came forward in Bhatt’s defence. She slammed the adults who were targeting a child, writing on X, “Adults here on Twitter have been one of the most lousy, foul-mouthed, abusive lot; none of these voices said a thing when kids died due to a cough syrup. But yeah, pick on a kid… what a horrible bunch of bullies these have raised themselves to be (sic).”

Her comment highlighted the need for empathy and restraint, especially toward children who appear on television.

Parenting, Pressure, and Reality TV Debate

The incident has also reignited discussions about parenting, humility, and the pressures young contestants face on national TV. Many viewers questioned whether reality show formats encourage overconfidence in children.

The controversy emerged as Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 reportedly faces declining TRP ratings, leading to larger questions about how the show handles young participants and audience expectations.

While the debate continues, the episode has become a reminder that confidence and humility must go hand in hand — especially in front of the nation’s biggest star.
