The Story So Far

Adapted from Gege Akutami’s bestselling manga, Jujutsu Kaisen first aired in 2020 and quickly became a breakout hit among anime fans. After its success, a prequel movie, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, came out in 2021, and the extremely praised second season was released in 2023. Season 3 is coming to escalate the stakes even further as Yuji Itadori and his friends go into The Culling Game, a fan-favourite arc in the manga known for high-stakes fights and dark surprises.

Returning Creative Team

MAPPA will again produce, with director Shota Goshozono back in the chair after Season 2. The underlying creative team stays the same, with Hiroshi Seko in charge of series composition, Yosuke Yajima & Hiromi Niwa handling the character designs, and Yoshimasa Tezuka composing the music

This consistency will reassure fans, particularly as Goshozono's handling of Season 2 was acclaimed for getting the emotional gravity and explosive combat of the Shibuya Incident arc just right.

In a surprise move, Sunghoo Park, who handled Season 1 and Jujutsu Kaisen 0, resigned following Season 1. Goshozono replaced him for Season 2 and will now carry on guiding the franchise with The Culling Game, which is set to bring us some of the anime's most brutal scenes so far.

About Jujutsu Kaisen

Crunchyroll's description of the hit anime series reads: Yuji Itadori, a high school student who possesses enormous physical strength, swallows the cursed finger of Sukuna, the King of Curses, and against his will becomes his vessel. Adopted under the care of sorcerer Satoru Gojo, Yuji enrolls in Tokyo Jujutsu High, where he and his classmates fight curses in a world that grows darker by the day.

With both seasons and the prequel movie already on Crunchyroll, everyone can catch up on the story before January 2026, when Yuji, Megumi, and their friends will have to navigate the chaos of The Culling Game.
