Jason Bateman and Jennifer Aniston’s friendship is not one of the ordinary ones. The actors, aged 56 each, created a connection so close that Jason has started describing Jennifer more as a co-parent of his daughters Francesca, 18 and Maple, 13, than an aunt.

Leading to Jennifer featuring on the latest cover of Vanity Fair, Jason took a trip down memory lane while speaking to the edition about the depth of their relationship and the ways in which she has actively participated in his children’s upbringing.

Ever Present in the Lives of the Kids

According to Jason, such attention and continuity from Jennifer make it such that sometimes, one would think that he and Amanda Anka would be almost inferior as parents.

“She’s the first one to call or text about big dates in the girls’ lives and even asks questions about boyfriends,” he said. From the birth of Francesca and Maple, the two children have had Jennifer very much part of the family routine into which she has seamlessly integrated and attached to the children so normally that they find it very difficult to tell the public version of Jennifer with the other version towards themselves.

Wit and Shared Past

Jennifer herself shared a fun and funny little anecdote that would best capture her relationship with Jason’s girls. A while back, while on one of their vacation trip together, she chanced upon Francesca in one of her bikinis.

She laughed “Well, there’s my bikini. Your child is now wearing my bikinis. Whoa. We’ve come a long way.” It is this combination of humor and genuine care and at the same time attentiveness that makes such an addition to their life so special.

Art Imitates Life

Their unique relationship appears as a reflection of the 2010 film The Switch, with Jennifer as Kassie and Jason as Wally. In the movie, Wally becomes the father to Kassie’s son, which appears to eerily parallel their current reality-except for the sperm donation thing.

This “co-parenting” role that Jason reserves for Jennifer hints not only how professional and personal their lives have intertwined but also how aware both have become of the public’s observation regarding their relationship.

A Friendship Born of Work

They have done several other films together beyond The Switch, such as Horrible Bosses (2011), Horrible Bosses 2 (2014) and Office Christmas Party (2016). These particular experiences from the screen have only made them stronger friends off-screen. Some relationships, it appears, really surpass the boundaries of work, family and even Hollywood fame.

In the end, Jennifer Aniston is what it means to be a genuine friend-an honorary co-parent: warmth, humor and never-ending dedication-all of which make an impressive impact on those who surround her.
