The stormy drama that brewed during the release of Gadar 3 between director Anil Sharma and actress Ameesha Patel seems to have worn itself out gradually.
The outrage was at its peak when Patel came forward with her feelings of disappointment over the climax being changed without her knowledge. She felt cheated and had hoped for a more defining character for her in the Sunny Deol starrer.
Director’s Take: A Family Viewpoint
Anil Sharma put the controversy down to mood swings, branding Patel as “moody,” while stating that it was natural to have differences of opinion. He assured the fans about Patel living in his cinematic family, irrespective of the disagreements.

Speaking to News18 Showsha, Anil Sharma reiterated how their relationship had evolved: “My equation with Ameesha is great now. Waqt ke saath sab cheezein sahi ho jaati hai. Abhi sab badhiya hai! (Time heals everything, now everything is good).”
Gadar 2, which was released in August 2023, wreaked havoc at the box office and emerged as the fourth highest-grossing Indian film of the year after Jawan, Pathaan and Animal.
Conditions for Gadar 3
The feelings between the two have warmed with the reports stating that Ameesha Patel has placed some artistic demands before she would reprise the role of Sakeena with much fanfare. She wants the love story of her character with Tara Singh to be kept in the center of the plot.
Sharma confirmed that Sakeena and Tara have been very pivotal to the story and gave hints that they have been talking about the arc of the character just early enough before Gadar 3 would reach cinemas.
Gadar 3: Script Ready, Production on the Horizon
Anil Sharma confirmed with excitement that the script for Gadar 3 is ready, stating that the fans should be assured that the wait would not be as long as the intervening 22 years between the first two films.

“Gadar 3 will definitely get made…We are hoping to take it to floors in another two years. We have already worked on the script. The story will revolve around Tara and Jeete,” he said.
Remembering the Historic Success of Gadar 2
Sharma also spoke about the unprecedented success witnessed by the movie Gadar 2, which came out in August 2023 now, was the fourth highest-grossing Indian film of that year. “On the 9th of August, I think we sold around 20 lakh tickets in the evening. I don’t think any other film has been able to create this kind of history,” he began with pride.
With the controversy getting settled between Anil Sharma and Ameesha Patel along with excitement regarding Gadar 3, this marks a positive new chapter for one of India’s biggest movie franchises. For now, fans can look forward to at least the continuation of their very on-screen epic saga of Tara and Sakeena.
