He opened up about his past relationship and shared how his ex-girlfriend once begged him to stop her wedding. His revelation showed how that heartbreak shaped not only his personal life but also his music.
The Day His Ex Called from Her Wedding
Amaal told his housemates about a turning point in his life. Seven years ago, just before he was about to go on stage, his ex-girlfriend kept calling him. She told him that if he came to her wedding, she would not marry. Amaal, however, chose to respect his parents’ wishes and stayed away. Later, he discovered that she was not happy in her marriage because her feelings for him never ended.

Heartbreak That Inspired His Songs
Amaal said he still goes back to that day whenever he has to compose a heartbreak song. He and his ex-had known each other since they were 13 and 15. They grew up together, shared memories, and had a deep bond. But destiny had other plans. Amaal compared the story to actress Minissha Lamba’s life, where she got married but could not connect with her partner. For him, this heartbreak became the base for many of his soulful compositions.
Confrontation With Her Husband
The story did not end there. Amaal recalled another awkward encounter. While performing at a wedding, her husband and his friends cornered him. Her husband admitted that she did not even look at him despite being married. Amaal then asked for the phone and told her directly to stop everything, as it was already too late. Later, her husband surprisingly met Amaal again and even thanked him for his honesty.

Amaal connected his heartbreak to the time when Kabir Singh was happening. He revealed that he was already in his own phase of pain. His real-life struggles matched the emotions of the film. That raw emotion, he said, was what he poured into his music. His grief turned into art, and those songs touched millions.
