Cristin Milioti, who recently received her first Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her performance as Sofia Falcone in HBO's The Penguin, has signed on for a new movie titled Buddy, as per Deadline. The horror film will be directed by Casper Kelly, who co-wrote the script with Jaime King. So far, no specific plot details have been revealed.
After gaining praise for her role in The Penguin, Milioti has kept busy with a range of new projects. She recently appeared again as Nanette Cole in Black Mirror: USS Callister Into Infinity. In addition, she has joined the cast of the FX pilot Seven Sisters, starring alongside Elizabeth Olsen.
Cristin Milioti will also lend her voice to Netflix’s upcoming animated film In Your Dreams. The voice cast includes Simu Liu, Craig Robinson, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport, Elias Janssen, Gia Carides, Omid Djalili, SungWon Cho, and Zachary Noah Piser, according to Variety.
The movie tells the story of two siblings, Stevie and Elliot, who travel through their dreams filled with odd characters like a sarcastic stuffed giraffe and zombie breakfast foods. If they survive the nightmare queen, the Sandman will grant them their ultimate wish a perfect family.
The film is co-written by Alexander Woo, Erik Benson, and Stanley Moore, and marks Woo’s debut as a director of an animated feature.
Speaking about Milioti, Woo shared, "Cristin is an EGOT-level talent. She can sing. She can act. I haven't seen her dance, but I'm sure she could give Ginger Rogers a run for her money. You believe every performance Cristin gives and that's every director's dream come true."
Buddy director Casper Kelly is best known for creating and producing several cult hits including Too Many Cooks, Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell, Stroker & Hoop, and Star Trek: Very Short Treks.
