The 2025 Minnesota State Fair—America’s largest by average daily attendance—is set to kick off on August 21 and will run until September 1.
Known as the Great Minnesota Get-Together, this fair attracts millions of visitors annually and is more than simply a local custom. With just a few days remaining, the excitement is increasing as the calendar promises countless hours of family fun, education, and entertainment.
Opening Day Extravaganza

Day one comes alive with science and creativity at Dan Patch Park. Visitors can enjoy activities blending engineering with art, including the unique program “Engineering a Human Beat Box” led by local musician Terrell X.

The Old Iron Show will also debut, showcasing rare antique farm equipment that celebrates Minnesota’s rich agricultural history. It’s a nod to tradition, wrapped in modern-day family fun.

Governor’s Fire Prevention Day & Seniors’ Specials

Governor Tim Walz is in charge of Fire Prevention Day on the second day, which has a somber yet interesting tone.Visitors can watch mock car crashes, participate in quizzes, and learn vital safety lessons.

Evenings turn festive with Kat Perkins, The Voice semifinalist, performing alongside her Good Time Band at Café Caribe. In the meantime, fans may witness the thrilling Draft Horse Barrel Racing at the Lee & Rose Warner Coliseum.

Seniors (65+) will also enjoy discounted tickets at $15, while performances themed around mental health awareness bring a meaningful edge to the celebrations.

Military Appreciation, Kids’ Day, and Cultural Flavors

The fair doesn’t stop at music and rides—it honors service and culture. Military Appreciation Day brings performances from the 34th Infantry Division Band Ensemble, while Kids’ Day lights up with ETC Productions’ stage version of The Little Mermaid Jr.

Latin American dancers and musicians provide a burst of rhythm on Pan-Latino Day, while the Great Minnesota Moo-Off, a humorous fan favorite, asks fairgoers to try their best cow imitation.

The Grand Finale: Hmong Cultural Celebration

On the last day, the fair wraps up by spotlighting Minnesota’s Hmong community with vibrant displays of dance, martial arts, and cultural storytelling.
It’s a fitting way to end a fair that promotes variety and welcomes everyone.
