The late R.K. Laxman’s family has chosen to pay a tribute to him by launching the very first-ever R.K. Laxman Award for Excellence.
The family has arranged a live music concert by music maestro A. R. Rahman on November 23 and will be celebrating the glorious heritage left behind by R.K. Laxman during the concert. The concert is going to start at 5 PM onwards in the MCA Cricket Stadium, Pune.
Usha Lakshman Shares Details of the Special Tribute Event
Usha Lakshman, daughter-in-law of late cartoonist R.K. Laxman, informed IANS, “The R.K. Laxman family has arranged for a live music concert by A.R. Rahman on Sunday, 23rd November 2025, at the MCA Cricket Stadium.”
She further added, “The concert will start at 5 PM onwards, and as part of the occasion, we will be commemorating R.K. Laxman by presenting the first-ever R.K. Laxman Award for Excellence.”

Aamir Khan to Receive the First R.K. Laxman Award for Excellence
The first-ever R.K. Laxman Award for Excellence will go to none other than Bollywood’s Mr. Perfectionist, Aamir Khan. “The award winner is going to be Aamir Khan, and this is going to be the largest tribute that we, as a family, are paying to Laxman,” she finalized.
The renowned Indian cartoonist and illustrator R.K. Laxman is most famous for his creation, ‘The Common Man,’ and for his popular daily cartoon strip, ‘You Said It.’ He is also known to have designed the sketches of the TV adaptation of the series “Malgudi Days,” written by his older brother, R. K. Narayan, and directed by Shankar Nag.
R.K. Laxman Death
R.K. Laxman died in Pune’s Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in 2015 at 93 years of age. Throughout his career, he received the Padma Bhushan from the Government of India in 1973 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2005. R.K. Laxman also received an honorary doctorate from the University of Mysore in 2004.
