An encounter between security forces and terrorists occurred in the Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials reported on Saturday.
The Indian Army announced on X that terrorists opened fire on security personnel before fleeing into the surrounding jungle. “On November 1, 2024, in the late evening, alert troops detected suspicious movement in the general area of Panar, Bandipora. When challenged, the terrorists fired indiscriminately and escaped into the jungle. A search operation is currently underway,” the Chinar Corps stated on X.
Further details are pending. Meanwhile, security forces are conducting a cordon and search operation in the Bandipora-Panar area, where gunshots were reported yesterday evening. Additional cordon and search operations have also been carried out in the Khanyar area of Srinagar.
Earlier, on October 29, security forces neutralized three terrorists in a significant encounter in Akhnoor, Jammu and Kashmir, following an attack on an Army convoy. Additionally, on October 20, a doctor and six construction workers were killed in a terrorist attack on a tunnel construction site along the Srinagar-Leh national highway in the Ganderbal district.
