A viral video where 26-year-old Josh Williams, a man who claims he lost his job for googling “stupid things” while working, has got so many hooked online.
According to Williams, who had been employed as a customer service administrator for only three months, when his boss caught wind of searches on irrelevant topics conducted at the workplace during working hours, his employer summoned him to a meeting and fired him from the job.
Reports indicate that Williams had been accessing the company computer to search for terms like “Turkey teeth” and “Simon Cowell’s botched Botox.” “I was not being assigned enough work. With all this free time, I began to get bored. So I started just googling random things on the company computer,” Williams explained in an interview.
“It was just thoughtless things like Simon Cowell’s botched Botox. It was embarrassing to get caught. I felt terrible, particularly since I had spent all my savings on a holiday and dental work, only to return to lose my job,” he added.
Teeth Troubles and TikTok Stardom
Williams, who lost his job, was having to face mounting financial hardship. If I lost my job, I wouldn’t be able to pay my rent and bills began piling up. He said he couldn’t offer him any money but turned to TikTok and posted the video explaining my situation.
Though the video had negative responses for it, helped Williams erase a debt of 450 euros (INR 50,000). “I did get a lot of hate in the comments, but I left the video live because it was earning money. The last time I could take was when someone was saying that my girlfriend was a prostitute when she was not,” he said.
Says Williams: “I am sorry I left it up, though. Truly, a couple of days after it was put up, I wanted to delete it. But I need the income, so I let it sit.
