Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has returned home today following the Supreme Court’s decision to grant him interim bail until June 1. Mr Kejriwal was taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in connection with the Excise Policy Case.
At approximately 7 pm today, after 50 days in detention, the Delhi Chief Minister emerged from jail, greeted by a large crowd of Aam Aadmi Party supporters outside Tihar Jail. Upon his arrival home, Mr Kejriwal received a warm welcome from AAP MP Sanjay Singh, who embraced him as soon as he stepped out of the car.
Inside, Arvind Kejriwal was greeted by his parents and wife with traditional aarti and garlands. His mother stood at the door, holding a garland to welcome her son, whom she greeted with a hug and blessings. Beside her, Mr Kejriwal’s father also embraced his son, patting his back affectionately.
The release of the AAP chief not only energizes his party but also the INDI alliance. Sunita Kejriwal, Arvind Kejriwal’s wife, recognized as AAP’s key campaigner in Gujarat and Delhi for the Lok Sabha elections, welcomed her husband home by garlanding him.
Arvind Kejriwal outlined his schedule for the first half of Saturday, including a visit to a Hanuman temple in New Delhi’s Connaught Place at 11 am, followed by a press conference at the AAP office at 1 pm.
