Billionaire Elon Musk reacted to an alleged assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump, raising a provocative question: why no one seems to be targeting President Joe Biden or Vice President Kamala Harris, who is also running as the Democratic presidential candidate.
According to the FBI, Trump was the target of an assassination attempt in Florida on Sunday, but he was unharmed. Both Trump’s campaign and law enforcement confirmed that the former president was safe.
The US Secret Service stated that one or more of its agents had “opened fire on a gunman” near the perimeter of Trump’s golf course. Authorities later recovered an “AK-47 style rifle” equipped with a scope, along with a GoPro camera, from the scene.
Musk responded to a post on X (formerly Twitter) that asked, “Why they want to kill Donald Trump?” by writing, “And no one is even trying to assassinate Biden/Kamala.”
The FBI confirmed that they are “investigating what appears to be an attempted assassination of former President Trump.” Officials have commended the Secret Service for its swift response, especially after facing scrutiny for a previous incident in Pennsylvania where they failed to prevent a gunman from targeting Trump.
