Lok Sabha Election 2024 Result: Nitin Gadkari hits a hat-trick winning from the Nagpur constituency again three times in a row. He has won before from the same constituency in 2014 and 2019.

As the Lok Sabha Election 2024 Result comes to a close, let’s have a look at the political career of Nitin Gadkari, the Minister for Road Transport and Highways.

Nitin Gadkari, born on May 27, 1957, in Nagpur, Maharashtra, has played a significant role in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Known for his focus on sustainable development and clean energy, Gadkari has been instrumental in promoting initiatives to encourage the use of electric vehicles and renewable energy sources as the Minister for Road Transport and Highways.

Under his leadership, several key infrastructure projects have been prioritized, including the development of the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, Delhi-Meerut Expressway, and Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway. Additionally, initiatives such as the Bharat Mala project, aimed at constructing 5,500 km of new roads along India’s international borders and coastal areas, highlight his commitment to infrastructure development.

Rise in Politics

Gadkari’s political career began during his college days when he joined the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Rising through the ranks of the BJP, he served as the President of the Maharashtra BJP from 2004 to 2009, overseeing significant electoral victories for the party in the state.

During his tenure as the Minister for Public Works in the Maharashtra government from 1995 to 1999, Gadkari spearheaded infrastructure projects like the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, revolutionizing connectivity in the region.

Gadkari’s commitment to social work was strengthened following the imposition of emergency by Indira Gandhi in June 1975, leading him to dedicate his life to public service. He holds degrees in M.Com, LLB, and a diploma in business management.

Gadkari is set to contest once again from the Nagpur Lok Sabha constituency in 2024, aiming for a third consecutive victory.
