The saying “Age is just a number; you are never too old to dance” rings true after a video featuring an elderly couple energetically dancing at a dandiya event went viral on social media. In the video, the couple, dressed in traditional Garba outfits, are seen dancing with joy, perfectly matching each step. They were the stars of the night.” Another added, “The aura they have—both are blessed with a healthy life, obviously practising it every day.” Other comments included, “Two cuties as partners” and “Whatever age is… just enjoy your life.”
As Navratri festivities continue, social media is flooded with videos and photos of Garba and Dandiya performances from across the country. Users are sharing clips of their own energetic dances as well as other captivating performances. In Gujarat, where Navratri is celebrated with great enthusiasm, women were seen performing the traditional Indhoni Raas Garba in Jamnagar, balancing a flaming ‘indhoni’ on their heads. An ‘indhoni’ is a pot holder used in Indian culture to carry a ‘kalash’ on the head, and the sight of these women dancing with the flame was mesmerizing.
