Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal has called for nationwide protests on June 21 against alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024 results. Venugopal, recently elected as MP from Kerala’s Alappuzha, criticized what he termed as organized corruption in BJP-ruled states, citing recent arrests in Bihar, Gujarat, and Haryana related to the exam.
In a letter, Venugopal highlighted technical glitches, malpractice, and unfair means reported from certain NEET-UG test centers. He expressed concerns over the integrity of the exam process, pointing to issues like the awarding of grace marks to over 1,500 students, an unusually high number of perfect scores, and allegations of a leaked question paper.
NEET-UG, the primary entrance exam for undergraduate medical courses across India, witnessed participation from over 24 lakh students this year across numerous test centers. The results, declared on June 4, sparked immediate controversy and dissatisfaction among aspirants.
As the debate over the exam’s fairness intensifies, stakeholders continue to scrutinize the situation, calling for transparency and accountability in the conduct of such critical national exams.
