CUET UG 2024: Candidates Report Errors In Answer Keys; Objection Window Closes Today

New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will close the objection window for the CUET UG 2024 answer key today, July 9, 2024, at 5 PM. Candidates can challenge the answers online by paying a fee of Rs 200 per answer. Many candidates have alleged that the answer keys contain incorrect responses.

These claims surfaced a day after the NTA released the answer keys. In response, the agency has announced that it will conduct a retest for CUET-UG candidates from July 15 to 19 if any grievances are found to be valid.

Candidates Speak Out:

  • Bishal, a candidate, shared on social media, “When I checked my Geography OMR sheet with the CUET(UG) answer key, I was shocked because 80% of the answer key was wrong. According to the wrong answer key, I only got 26 marks, but in reality, I should get 122. Seventeen of my answers were correct.”

  • Karishma, another candidate, wrote, “Just checked my CUET UG 2024 Answer Key for Mass Media. NTA, do you make your answer keys while sleeping? Almost all answers are wrong except for a few questions. What are you doing?”

  • Ragini Nayak, Congress spokesperson, raised concerns about a Psychology question that had a discrepancy. “The correct answer according to the NCERT book is ‘crowd,’ but the NTA’s answer key lists it as ‘audience.’ This puts students in a tough spot.”

NTA’s Response:

The NTA stated that a panel of subject experts will verify the challenges made by candidates. If any challenge is found correct, the answer key will be revised and applied to all candidates’ responses. The final result will be prepared based on the revised answer key, but individual candidates will not be informed about the acceptance or rejection of their challenges.

Background:

The CUET-UG 2024 entrance test was held on May 15 to 29 in a hybrid format. It was canceled in Delhi the night before the exam due to logistical reasons and was later conducted in the capital. This year, over 13.4 lakh candidates registered for the test for admission to undergraduate courses in 261 central, state, deemed, and private universities.

The delay in CUET-UG results adds to ongoing concerns about irregularities in other competitive exams like NEET and NET.
