CAT 2024 Registration Opens: Check Eligibility For Common Admission Test

The application process for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 has commenced today, with the registration deadline set for September 23. Candidates interested in applying can do so via the official website. This year’s exam will be conducted by IIM Calcutta on November 24 across 170 cities. Admit cards are expected to be available starting November 5.

CAT 2024 Application Fee

The exam fee has been revised to Rs 2,500 for general category candidates (up from Rs 2,400) and Rs 1,250 for reserved category candidates (up from Rs 1,200).

CAT 2024 Eligibility

-Bachelor’s Degree: Candidates must have at least 50% marks or an equivalent CGPA; 45% marks for SC, ST, and PwD categories.

– Final-year Bachelor’s degree students and those awaiting results may also apply.

Steps to Apply

1. Register to generate a unique user ID and password.

2. Log in with the generated User ID and Password to fill out the application form.

3. Complete the registration by submitting the application form and making the online payment.

4. During registration, domestic candidates’ mobile numbers and email addresses will be verified via OTP, after which the User ID and Password will be sent. Overseas candidates will receive the OTP via email only.

Once the payment is made and the application is submitted, no changes can be made. Eligibility may be verified at various stages of the selection process, as detailed on the official website.

Seat Reservation

In accordance with legal requirements:

– 15% of seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates.

– 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates.

– 27% for Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates from the “non-creamy” layer.

– Up to 10% for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) candidates.

Exam Pattern

The exam will consist of three sections: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning, Verbal and Reading Comprehension, and Quantitative Aptitude. The question paper will include multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and type-in-the-answer (TITA) questions, with a total score of 198 marks.
