New records have been created in the seizure of illegal materials in the assembly general elections in 2023. On the instructions of the Election Department, the enforcement agencies in the state are making new records every day in the matter of seizing illegal materials. Within 10 days of the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, the enforcement agencies set a new record by seizing illicit liquor, cash and other material worth more than Rs 143 crore, whereas during the entire Model Code of Conduct in the 2018 Assembly General Elections i.e. in 65 days.
Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta said that this information has been given in the reports issued by different agencies in the state. Since the implementation of the code of conduct, 7 lakh 95 thousand 978 litres of liquor (worth Rs 15 crore 37 lakh), Rs 26 crore 27 lakh cash, drugs worth about Rs 38.94 crore and precious metals like gold and silver worth Rs 15.72 crore have been seized. When discussing the 2018 assembly elections, illegal material worth Rs 70 crore was seized in 65 days. Compared to 2018, a record of double seizure has been made in 10 days in the upcoming assembly
election year.
Gupta said that Jaipur is at the forefront in the state with a seizure of Rs 21 crore 20 lakh. In second place is Udaipur with Rs 11 crore 20 lacks, in third place is Barmer with Rs 9 crore 80 lakh, and in fourth place is Bhilwara with Rs 9 crore 49 lakh. Alwar Rs 8.31 crore, Jodhpur Rs 8.26 crore, Sriganganagar Rs 7.17 crore, Sikar Rs 6.63 crore, Chittorgarh Rs 6.53 crore, and Pali have so far seized Rs 5.26 crore. Gupta said that departments across the state have kept a strict vigil and strict action is being taken against any suspicious case.
