Law enforcement agency ED (Enforcement Directorate) approached the Supreme Court against Hemant Soren’s bail, which was granted by Jharkhand HC.

As per the agency, this judgement was faulty and disputed the findings, that there was no prima facie evidence, that Hemant Soren was found guilty under PMLA act.

Earlier, the Jharkhand HC had given bail to chief minister and JMM leader Hemant Soren on June 28, after deciding that there is indeed a reason to believe that he isn’t guilty of money laundering in connection with the scam.

Moreover, the single-judge bench also ruled, that the claim of timely action taken by ED in preventing Soren and others from illegally acquiring the land is ‘vague’ since witnesses claimed that the land indeed had been taken by soren.

Additionally, the court also observed, that no registers or revenue records reflect soren’s direct involvement in either acquiring or possessing the land. And lastly, nobody upset individual came forward to voice its grievance against the matter, even though soren that time, was not in power in the state.

Overall, looking at these observations, the court granted bail to the JMM leader.

Meanwhile, soren left the post of CM on January 31 after his detention by ED in money laundering case. Later the close aide Champai soren became state’s CM.

But later, after acquiring bail, Hemant soren again became CM of the state on July 4.
