On Sunday, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar engaged in a series of high-profile meetings with Kuwaiti leaders to enhance bilateral relations between India and Kuwait.
Jaishankar first met with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya. The two leaders reviewed their broad-based partnership, which spans various sectors including politics, trade, investment, health, education, people-to-people connections, and connectivity. They also discussed regional geopolitical developments. Jaishankar described the meeting as “warm and productive” and expressed confidence that their longstanding ties would continue to strengthen. In a post on X, he highlighted the comprehensive nature of their discussions and their shared commitment to furthering the relationship.
Later, Jaishankar called on Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Prime Minister of Kuwait. He conveyed greetings from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed the deepening of economic cooperation between the two countries. Jaishankar valued the Prime Minister’s insights on strengthening bilateral economic ties, emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration in this area.
Jaishankar also met with Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, the Crown Prince of Kuwait. During this visit, he sought the Crown Prince’s guidance on elevating India-Kuwait relations. Jaishankar underscored the centuries-old bonds of goodwill and friendship between the nations and noted the steady expansion of their contemporary partnership. He expressed gratitude for the Crown Prince’s insights, which are aimed at taking their relationship to a higher level.
Jaishankar’s meetings underscore India’s commitment to advancing its strategic partnership with Kuwait, focusing on various dimensions of their collaboration and exploring new opportunities for cooperation. His visits reflect the mutual interest in strengthening ties and addressing regional and global challenges together.
