Dustlik 2024 Begins on April 15: India-Uzbekistan Forge Military Partnership

The Indian Army announced on Friday that the fifth edition of the India-Uzbekistan Joint Military Exercise Dustlik is set to begin in Uzbekistan’s Termez District starting April 15.

“Exercise #Dustlik 2024 5th Edition of Joint Military Exercise ‘DUSTLIK’ between India and Uzbekistan will be conducted at Termez District, #Uzbekistan from 15 to 28 April 2024. The participating contingents from the #IndianArmedForces and Armed Forces of the Republic of #Uzbekistan will train together to cement the foundation for collaborations & future military interactions,” the Indian Army stated in a statement.

Contingents from the Indian Armed Forces and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan will participate in joint training sessions during the exercise. The fourth edition of the joint military exercise between the Indian and Uzbekistan armies took place on February 20 of the previous year at the Foreign Training Node in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand.

The Additional Directorate General of Public Information reported that the Indian Army’s 14-day joint training exercise was centered on exchanging best practices in sub conventional operations under a UN mandate. Forty-five soldiers from both the Uzbekistan and Indian armies participated in the exercise, which aims to foster positive relations between the two forces, according to the Ministry of Defence.

The contingent from the Indian Army includes troops from an infantry battalion of the Garhwal Rifles Regiment. The inaugural edition of the exercise took place in Uzbekistan in November 2019.
