Devjyoti Mohra, a talented artisan from Balurghat, has crafted a stunning six-and-a-half-foot-long crown for the Durga idol, setting a new record in the process.
A Unique Creation for a Grand Festival
Durga Puja, the biggest cultural festival in Bengal, is known for its elaborate pandals and intricately designed idols. This year, the Kachikala Club in South Dinajpur, one of the district’s major pujas, will showcase the largest crown ever made for a Durga idol, thanks to Devjyoti’s innovative work. In addition to the crown, Mohra has also crafted a six-foot garland and other jewelry pieces, all made from natural materials. His artistry has drawn attention from far and wide, with people flocking to his home to catch a glimpse of the ongoing work.

The crown, along with the round necklace, seven-wave necklace, bangles, and headpiece, are all being meticulously crafted using natural tools like Shola, Zari, and Punthi.
