Two teenage boys in Navi Mumbai took their own lives, each driven by distinct pressures. The first incident unfolded in Nerul, where a 15-year-old was discovered lifeless in his room on Sunday night. In a poignant suicide note, he expressed a deep aversion to studies. The second case occurred in Seawoods, where a 14-year-old, grappling with the recent loss of his father, succumbed to stress. Alone at home on Sunday night, he locked himself in, hanging by the weight of academic struggles.
The 14-year-old, a student in the ninth grade, left behind a note revealing his struggles with studies and the overwhelming burden they posed, leading him to take such a drastic step. According to Assistant Police Inspector Sagar Jadhav from the Nerul police station, the young boy felt a crushing weight on his shoulders, unable to cope with academic expectations.
On the other hand, the 15-year-old, a student in the tenth grade, faced the relentless pressure of meeting family expectations after his father’s demise last year. Constant reminders from family and others about his pivotal role in supporting his mother and sister took a toll on him.
In a heart-wrenching message to his sister on Sunday night, he conveyed his inability to meet the high expectations placed on him, ultimately choosing to end his life.
The following morning, the family discovered the 15-year-old missing and found his distressing message. The authorities were promptly informed, leading to a search operation. The boy’s scooty and a pair of slippers were located near Karave lake. The Fire Brigade was called in, and by 10 am, the boy’s lifeless body was retrieved from the lake, confirmed Senior Police Inspector Pramod Toradmal from the NRI Coastal police station.
In both cases, accidental death reports have been filed with the respective police stations, marking the beginning of thorough investigations into these devastating incidents.
