In a major anti-narcotics operation, Delhi Police have dismantled an interstate drug smuggling network, seizing 228 kg of marijuana (ganja) worth approximately Rs 1.4 crore.
The illegal consignment was being trafficked from Andhra Pradesh -Odisha border to the Delhi/NCR region. Police arrested two accused identified as drug supplier Jeevan Sunar who is a resident of Gaziabad, Uttar Pradesh along with the receiver in Delhi named Parmanand, a resident of Badli, Delhi.
They were caught by the Delhi Police officials on the basis of the secret intelligence.
Both accused were engaged in supply/peddling narcotic substance in Delhi after procuring from the border area of Orissa-Andhra Pradesh. During interrogation, accused Jeevan revealed that he had been peddling ganja after procuring from the border of Orissa-Andhra Pradesh on the directions of Parmanand and his associates.
The second accused Parmanand was also arrested from the spot whilunloading/transporting the Ganja from the truck to his Car. During further investigation, the name of the source of the ganja was also revealed as Rajesh Adikathia who is a resident of Odisha. Rajesh has already been arrested by Crime Branch in a ganja supply case. Both suspects have been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
