Former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is doubling the income of farmers, while Ashok Gehlot’s government is driving farmers to commit suicide. So far, over four dozen farmers have committed suicide.
Raje said, “Gehlot government had promised a complete waiver of farmers’ loans in the elections. However, a farmer named Surajaram from Hanumangarh district committed suicide when his loan was not waived. This government has issued eviction notices to 19,000 farmers. Due to drought, the crops of farmers have failed, and the government neither provided relief nor assessed damages.”
She added that they had started work on the Siddhmukh canal system for farmers’ irrigation, land allotment, and restoration, but the current government halted it. They had also taken measures to prevent water theft and ensure water supply even to the last field. She said, “Now, theft has resumed, and water is being sold in Haryana for INR 1,200 per hour.”
Farmers from the Siddhmukh Canal region are protesting for the revival of the canal. Pink bollworm disease has ruined cotton crops. Even young children are caught up in drug addiction, including heroin and cocaine. Kanhaiya Lal from Nohar committed suicide twice due to paper leaks.
The former Chief Minister said it is time for the upcoming elections to remove the Gehlot government and bring the BJP to power.
