Dr. TS Sethuratnam, who has made his mark in the energy sector, has passed away at the age of 95. He was the father of S Ravi, former Chairman of Bombay Stock Exchange.
On Wednesday, January 10, he met his son and former chairman of Bombay Stock Exchange, S. He breathed his last at Ravi’s residence in Saket, Delhi. He was suffering from some old age diseases and was in poor health for the last few weeks.
In the last moments of Dr. TS Sethuratnam, his wife Shakuntala Sethuratnam, both his son and daughter-in-law and his three grandsons (Abhishek Ravi, Akshay Ravi and Chinmay Vasudevan) were present with him.Dr. Sethuratnam remained active in work till his 80s. Not only he was known as the creator of national institutions, he was also known as the main pillar of India’s energy sector. Dr. Sethuratnam had served as Chairman of Madhya Pradesh Electricity Board and BSES. During his golden life he held various special posts and also played the role of director at many places.During his lifetime he acted in arbitration more than 70 times and also worked prominently in the energy sector. He was a member of many committees formed by the Government of India and Dr. Sethuratnam was also a member of the first committee formed for privatization of the energy sector. Today the entire energy industry and the entire country is paying tribute to the nation builder Dr. Sethuratnam for his distinguished service.
