DR Congo’s lead in the 37th minute came from Yoann Wissa’s deflected cross, with Elia heading the ball over the line. Egypt’s equalizer before halftime was the result of a VAR-reviewed penalty awarded after Congolese defender Dylan Batubinsika struck Ahmed Hegazi in the penalty box with an extended arm.
Despite Mostafa Mohamed confidently converting the penalty to net his fourth tournament goal, his later miss in the shootout contributed to Egypt’s exit from the competition.
