Global logistics leader DP World has officially inaugurated its expansive 3.80-lakh sq ft warehousing facility in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra. Commencing operations on September 1, this cutting-edge facility is poised to serve a wide spectrum of industries, including agriculture, pharmaceuticals, electric vehicles, and chemicals, both locally and in the surrounding areas, according to DP World’s official announcement.
Strategically positioned along the Mumbai-Nashik Highway, this new facility marks a significant addition to DP World’s infrastructure, catapulting the company’s total warehousing capacity in India to an impressive 5 million sq ft.
Anoop Chauhan, Head of Contract Logistics and Cold Chain Solutions at DP World India, emphasized the facility’s potential to enhance connectivity between global and domestic markets while expanding the company’s logistical footprint. Chauhan stated, “The addition of the Bhiwandi warehouse in the company’s network will not only expand its infrastructure but will also enable it to aid its customers in achieving greater connectivity between global and domestic markets.”
The warehousing facility is thoughtfully designed to accommodate diverse storage requirements. It is divided into two distinct sections, with one segment specifically tailored for the safe storage of hazardous chemicals. This section boasts an impressive capacity of 20,000 pallet positions for the normal temperature zone, with an additional 1,000 pallet positions available for the 20 to 25-degree temperature-controlled area, which can be readily expanded to meet growing demands. The second section of the facility encompasses a generous 1,50,000 sq ft area dedicated to non-chemical storage, offering versatile storage solutions for a variety of goods.
