AIADMK coordinator O. Panneerselvam walked out of the AIADMK’s party general council meeting. The supporters of OPS were very upset by the meeting conducted by the EPS camp on Thursday in chennai.

On 18 June, The AIADMK party had a general body meeting at the party headquarters with the district secretaries, senior leaders and cadres of the party.

In the meeting, all the members raised the dual leadership issue to be evoked and the AIADMK party should maintain single leadership.

This created a huge chaos between O. Panneerselvam and Edappadi Palaniswami camps.

Later on, a senior Aiadmk leader D. Jayakumar spoke to media saying that the demands of the leaders and cadres of AIADMK, who have been asking for single leadership, should sustain in the party. He also said that the party will decide the single leadership by 23 June.

In the GC meeting conducted in chennai, there was huge support for EPS which created a problem for OPS and their supporters.

As Palaniswami was honoured with a decorated crown, a sword by his supporters amid chants favouring him, OPS along with his supporters, including Deputy Secretary R. Vaithilingam, walked out of the meeting and left the premises.

The GC meet, that witnessed chaotic scenes was over within 40 minutes after it started. During the meeting, water bottles and papers were also thrown at OPS and his supporters by Palaniswamy supporters which created a havoc in the meeting.

The tussle between former Tamil Nadu CM and party joint coordinator EPS and his former deputy CM and coordinator OPS pertains EPS seeking a single leadership for the AIADMK and his camp keen on passing a resolution in this regard. OPS claimed that the general body cannot pass the resolution without his signature as per party law.

OPS and his team had approached the madras high court to stop the general council meeting from going ahead and showing the way for his rivalry partner EPS as the sole leader.

In his arguments, OPS told the court that he received 23 resolutions from the AIADMK headquarters via e-mail on 21 June, and these were to be passed at the general council meeting on 23 June.

The next general Commitee meeting will be conducted on 11 July which will again decide the single leadership for the AIADMK.
