Security forces have escalated their search operation in the Kota Top area of Gandoh, located in Doda district, in response to an exchange of gunfire with terrorists that resulted in injuries to a Special Operations Group (SOG) constable on Wednesday night.

Efforts to locate the terrorists have been intensified, with troops conducting thorough searches in the forests and implementing increased security measures.

Officials reported that the clash, which commenced on June 12 at 20:20 hrs, involved a confrontation between security forces and terrorists at Kota Top in Gandoh, Doda. During this operation, Constable Fareed Ahmed (973/D) of the SOG Gandoh sustained injuries.

The Jammu and Kashmir police confirmed that the encounter was ongoing and awaited further details.

Subsequent to the encounter, sketches of four terrorists believed to be hiding in the higher regions of Bhaderwah, Thathri, and Gandoh in the district were released by the Jammu and Kashmir police. A reward of Rs 5 lakh is offered for any information that leads to their capture, with assurance of confidentiality for the informant.

Security measures have been heightened, including ‘Naka’ checkpoints and rigorous inspections of vehicles throughout the region.

This recent encounter follows a series of terrorist incidents in the Jammu and Kashmir region over the past few days. The initial incident occurred on June 9, when terrorists targeted a bus in Reasi, causing it to plunge into a gorge and resulting in the deaths of at least nine pilgrims, with 42 others injured.
